Building a 3D Printed Wankel Powered Paddleboat

But because I over-do everything, I also designed a 3D printed air regulator to significantly increase engine runtime, and I learned how to run CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses in order to over-optimize my hull and paddle design. The CFD was definitely overkill, but it was fun to learn and real...

    Commercial boxes often use an eliptical bearing instead of rollers, which increases the number of theeth in contact. But, where do you get an eliptical bearing? You take a thin section bearing and squash it a bit in a vice! 3D Print an eliptical boss to fit tightly in the centre of the bearing to stop it returning to circular. With this approach, you can go back to your original toothed belt design, as the belt is stretched over the bearing, which removes (most of) the backlash. The combination of the two significantly increase the overall strength.

    I just love it when I catch people cheating in COD casuals, and they come up with the dumbest excuses as to why they can not possibly be cheating, from "Im on PS5" to "skill issue" and when I pay close attention to the killcams, I can actually see, their cross hairs perfectly tracking people across walls and keep up perfectly, with random movements of other players. Some people are real low life degenerates with dopamine deficiency and should get medical help, before they start cheating IRL and g et in deep trouble.

    I have the feeling you are choosing an unsuitable solution for a problem that is typically solved with very boring, conventional gear pairings or even timed toothed belts. Harmonic drives make sense if you have transmission in the tens or hundreds. Your application requires 10 Nm. A 3 Nm stepper, complete with drive and power supply unit, is like 30 bucks. Your backlash is really not that great and is comparable to a 20-60 m=1 gear pairing. Which would cost maybe 20 bucks more but save a lot of time tinkering with your DIY gear. If you are really pushing the DIY angle you could even print some involute gearings (which are somewhat expensive to buy) and see what module and teeth width you can get away with. Of course, toothed belts are always an option, too.

    • @3DprintedLife
      @3DprintedLife 3 месяца назад

      I considered an OTS angle like that, but in this price range it really doesn't work well. That's why most robot arms under $1k have pretty terrible payload/range performance. A 3Nm capable stepper is massive, plus gearbox. Price isn't the issue, but we're talking 1kg+ per setup and a very long profile which is a pain to fit in a robot arm without complex gearing (and the added backlash in the stack) and would add so much unnecessary mass to the arm, requiring even more torque to compensate. Smaller steppers with a multi-stage gearbox could work but again that adds a lot of size, complexity, and backlash. 3D printing a gearbox isn't the best solution, and harmonic drives are rarely the best option, but for the price and considering the good overall balance of torque, gear reduction, size, and backlash, it was the best option for my arm design.

    • @Grinstopher
      @Grinstopher 3 месяца назад

       @3DprintedLife that is certainly a factor, but you need your 10Nm on the shoulder joint, where the actuator's weight and size typically does not matter. But the main point of my comment is that a harmonic drive does not offer advantages in weight, size or backlash if the transmission ratio is low enough that it can be implemented with a single-stage spur gear pairing. And this isn't even taking the low efficiency of DIY gearboxes into account. I started writing this response exploring different pairings of drives and internal gear set-ups, but as I am writing this, I have a better proposal. For the elbow joint, put the drive near the shoulder joint and use a toothed belt transmission. With that you minimize the torque on the shoulder joint from the drive's weight, you can include the transmission ratio by choosing appropriate pulleys, and since you are 3D printing, you can choose your backlash yourself.

    Can't we just make a circular loop and pass the current in it such that it makes a South pole after that we can place that in a plastic container so that magnet doesn't fall out. After that we just put the magnet South Pole so that it repels with that loop. Also container should have same dimaeter as magnet so magnet cannot change it position and levitate.
